On the prediction of complex shear dominated concrete failure by means of classical and higher order damage-plasticity continuum models

In the present contribution, capabilities of classical and higher order damage-plasticity continuum models in their ability to predict complex shear failure concrete is assessed. To this end, a local formulation popular Concrete Damage-Plasticity model by Grassl Jirásek (2006a) with mesh-adjusted softening modulus compared gradient-enhanced Poh Swaddiwudhipong (2009) recently proposed micropolar Neuner et al. (2020a) means challenging 3D finite element simulations transverse test. The test characterized an anchor channel embedded slab, which loaded transversely its axis until failure. A comparison experimental results highlights limitations formulations, whereas approaches show great potential particular for modeling structural post-peak response.
